December Meeting

Holiday Party

Well this year has come and gone and it’s time for the Holiday Party/December Meeting and Installation of Officers.

As explained previously, we are no longer having a separate Installation of Officers/Holiday Party due to lack of interest.  However, we are going to incorporate these items into a regular meeting.

Business will be held to a minimum so that you can spend the rest of the time having fun with your family and friends.

This meeting will be held at Seasons, in Washington Township on December 5th.  The cost for the dinner will be $45.00 (well worth it for the spread put out at Seasons), there will be a cash bar and a DJ.  Tickets must be purchased in advance.

We ask that you show your support and bring your family and friends, it is going to be a great time.

October BOANJ Meeting

BOANJ held their regular meeting in October in Byram, NJ. The guest speakers were

A revised Energy Bill is being proposed to increase the requirements for NJ A fire prevention code update is being proposed to bring the UFC current with the building code requirements (available on the DCA website) A bill is being proposed by fire prevention to require a sprinkler system retrofit of high rise buildings within 5 years if adopted   The monitoring division will be reinstated on a somewhat smaller scale Conflict of Interest rules will be further defined to only include household members not extended family.  Further language will be added to clarify the definition of a traditional conflict (yourself as a contractor in your own or an adjacent town) the Department will move for license revocation Low voltage fire alarm systems will be discussed at the Code Advisory Board Requirement for prior approval from the DCA for new positions will be changed to notification to the Department within 15 after the acceptance of a position The Roster will be changed somewhat.  The Staffing Report required by Henry Riccobene will be the method of obtaining this information   The issue of violations notices was clarified - a separate violation may be issued for each subcode where a violation exists Provisions for the requirements of shelters in the event of a catastrophe are being discussed and further details will be sent the  OEM Coordinator of the town.

International Code Council

Stephen Jones, Past President of BOANJ, has been elected to the Board of Directors at the ICC.  It has been a difficult process trying to get Steve elected to the Board.

At the conference in Reno which was held in September, Steve was able to achieve his goal , and the goal of New Jersey, to see on of our own on the Board.

Although he did not make it out of committee, he did win 72% of the votes from the members in attendance.

Congratulations go out to Steve!  We know he’s the best man for the job.

Golf Outing

The 11th Annual “Frankie Central” Golf Outing was held earlier this month at Farmstead Golf & Country Club in Lafayette, New Jersey.  It was a huge success despite the change in date.

The day started out a little misty and cool but turned out great and everyone had a great time, as usual.

A final report on the fund raising will brought to the members once all of the accounting has been completed.

Thank you to everyone who attended or helped to get golfers and special thanks to everyone who volunteered their held, and that of their spouse.

As usual, John Carol Pallotta worked super hard and it showed.  Great day.

Meeting Notice Apology

I would like to take this opportunity to

apologize to the members for last months meeting notice or lack thereof.

The notice was emailed to the printer, but it was not received by them and therefore the notice was inadvertently never sent out.

I understand that many of you rely on this correspondence in order to obtain details regarding the location of the meeting etc. and hope that it did not cause any one too much of an inconvenience.

Future emails will be confirmed for receipt  to avoid this from happening again.

Good and Welfare

Our condolences and sympathy go out to Steve Jones, whose father, George, recently passed away.

In addition, Past President John Josephs passed away recently.  Our thoughts are with his family also during this difficult time.

Your 2008 Associations dues are due. Membership application will be available at henext meeting. It is very important that your municipality return the Application with the Voucher. Treasurer Larry Scorzelli reported that many vouchers come hrough without the application. This causes confusion with updating the membership roster.   You will not be eligible to Vote at the upcoming November election if your dues are not paid prior to the start of the September meeting.   Members who have not paid by the September meeting will have their names removed from the mailing list.

For questions on your membership

Please call Treasurer Larry   Scorzelli. (201)652-2826
